Oval 7" x 5" of Original Coyote Photograph Highlights Stamp Sheet
Anyone who is an admirer of nature, will love this fleeting moment captured on film in 1999 by photographic artist, W. C. "Bill" Porter, founder and chief stamp designer of The Olathe Poste.
"I'm sure that anyone who has ever tried to hunt a coyote with a camera can appreciate this shot." said Porter during an interview in early 2006, regarding the new coyote stamp. "Just imagine going out in full camouflage against the one animal with the keenest of all senses, that God and Mother Nature have to offer. Holding a camera, a weapon for protection, and a mouth call to fool the wary predator into believing that you're his next meal. Then combine all that with not causing the coyote to be alarmed by either your presence in his environment, and not making any noticeable movements or un-natural sounds, or even by the mere scent of a human in the area that will lead to a disastrous failure."
This unusual and unique stamp art presentation includes a full sheet (16 stamps) of the 2006 Coyote (canis latrans) $5 commemorative -- the first U.S. stamp to champion the coyote, a natural predator that now inhabits all the North American Continent. The souvenir style stamp sheet includes brief biological information about the coyote, it's habitat and habits. A 7" x 5" digital reproduction of the original photograph, titled "Headed Your Way," is highlighted with the stamps in an oval cut-out of the double matting in Alibaster and Dark Umbria. Overall matte size is 16" x 20" and fits any standard 16x20 frame.
Limited Edition of 50! Each piece of this limited edition is double signed and numbered by the artist. Authentication is provided to the collector of fine stamp art with a copy of the April 2006 article from Artistamp Artifacts, that publicized the stamp's release. The article will also be signed by the artist and further authentication of the piece will be found on the reverse side of the art work. These 16" x 20" double-matted stamp art presentations are shrink wrapped in archivally safe acetate wrap, bubble-wrapped and inserted in stiff, flat mailers for protecting your investment during shipping.
Please note: Stamp collectors will be interested to know that the photograph for the 2006 Coyote stamp was captured approximately one mile east of the Very Large Array (VLA) site, located west of Socorro, New Mexico, early on New Year's Day morning, 1999.
